I quite like it so I wanted to share

Sometimes the truth is too hard to face
So you reach for the bottle and pour into your glass
Trying to drown the voices that swim in your mind
The ones that are telling you to give this stuff up

You give the pretence that nothing is wrong
But the people who know you best have known for too long
You can keep on pretending that you have it under control
It’s a habit that is proving too hard to break

(Chorus)
It might as well be poison you’re pouring into your soul
Cos it kills who you are and leaves us with a hole
Gets into your blood and kills you from the inside

Broken record
Lies
Ghost
Give in or give up

Purposely leaving a part of my soul behind
For people to see wondering who I really am
Looking past the barriers and into my mind

People like to think they know who I am
Those people are the ones who don’t know me at all
They see a level person a kind of blue serene
But they don’t know inside that sometimes I fall

(Chorus)
My fingerprints are only a small part of me
They only reflect what’s on the outside
They’re not how I want to leave my mark
Dig a little deeper and see what you can find

Sometimes you can see them others you can’t
But they all belong to me and no other
I only leave them where I want to
You cannot see when I’ve touched another

Unlike footprints they don’t disappear into sand
A permanent reminder of the person I am
And sometimes people leave their fingerprints on me
On my heart my head and my hands
